[13] “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13 NIV
Outside Christ is full of bondage and crises. Many people who are determined to stop sinning cannot do so, not because they don’t want to, but because they’ve not invited Jesus to free them by His power. In John 8:36 NIV, Jesus said,
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
True freedom is found in Christ Jesus, not in our efforts or in the world. But after being set free by Jesus, there’s more. That is, to keep your freedom by grace and use it to serve one another humbly in love.
Keeping your freedom by grace means allowing God to make your life a channel for administering His purposes on Earth. And since God has no dealing with darkness, only products of good works will flow in your life when you live in submission unto Him. Ephesians 2:10 NIV says,
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
This verse is the perfect explanation of why you ought to use your freedom to serve one another in love. You’re God’s handiwork. You are created in Christ Jesus to do good works, and such works were already prepared by God for you to walk in them.
I want you to evaluate your life carefully. What are some of the things you’re doing that are not making you glorify God? Check it, and once you discover it, depend on grace to solve it. It could be a bad habit or wrong influence from the people you’re walking with. In any case, God is willing to help you rise. Lean on Him.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, in Jesus’ name, thank You for the grace to serve one another in love. I pray that by Your divine enablement in me, make my life a conduit of good works. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
