“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13 NIV
In Christ, Jesus Himself is the one who has set us free (John 8:36). That freedom is limitless, but a misunderstanding of it can create a terrible flaw in a believer’s life. For example, if a Christian says, “I am free in Christ, so I can do whatever I like,” it’s not a wrong statement. However, when sin is involved, it becomes bad.
Some people don’t understand grace well. You’re redeemed in Christ Jesus by His blood so that you’ll live the life you ought to – that life filled with good works which God foreordained for you to live in Christ (Ephesians 2:10). Good works don’t contain evil acts. No work of the flesh is part of the eternal life you’ve been given in Christ.
Vehemently reject anything the devil suggests in your mind. He wants to sway you off God’s track. The flesh is corruptible, even though it’s not immediately visible; the Spirit isn’t. Keep in step with the Spirit of God (Galatians 5:25), and your life will move on from glory to glory. Hallelujah.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh God, I receive grace to live as I ought to live in Christ, not how I want to according to my fleshly dictates. Let the empowerment of the Spirit of God guard me against going off track, both in actions and doctrine. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen!
