“knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” — I Peter 1:18 - 19 NKJV
What does it mean to redeem someone? It is to compensate for the faults or bad aspects of the person.
Since the fall occurred in Genesis 3, men have always continued to reproduce children in their own likeness of sin (Genesis 5:3). And due to the continuing nature of this evil, even babies do wrong things without knowing it.
God, seeing the state of man and also foreseeing the impact of that incident, decided to redeem us. So He loved the world and sent Jesus to come and die for each person while we did not deserve it (John 3:16, 1 John 2:2, Romans 5:6).
Beloved, the Father has made Jesus pay for your sins already when He (Jesus) shed His blood on the cross. You don’t have to live condemned, dejected and rejected. Instead, you must accept Jesus to become a beneficiary of this glorious redemption.
Now there’s a more glorious thing about this redemption. It’s not temporary, but permanent. Because of how powerful this truth is, Apostle Peter tells us in 1 Peter 1:18 that we should not think God’s redemption got done with corruptible things like gold or silver. Instead, it was with the blood of Christ. Hallelujah.
Are you born again? If yes, you are redeemed by the blood of Christ. You’ll never lose your salvation because Jesus’ blood still speaks for you today. Instead of thinking about the next sin you’ll do, think about His grace to enable you to live unto Him. Then, you’ll live a fulfilled and condemnation-free life.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
God, thank you for redeeming me with the precious blood of Jesus. Grace me to live in the consciousness of this Truth and not become weary of depending on your grace for kingdom exploits. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
