Prosper In All Things

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” — III John 1:2 NKJV

Is God against the prosperity of His children? No! He’s for it. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 8:9 that,

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

II Corinthians 8:9 NKJV

So God exchanged your poverty with His riches through Jesus. God doesn’t have any delight in seeing you poor. He wants you to prosper in all things. But there’s a caution — so that you’ll use His riches for your enjoyment and to help others in need (1 Timothy 6:17-19).

God exchanged your poverty with His riches through Jesus.

Looking at 3 John 2 again, the Apostle John prayed for Gaius, another Christian to whom the letter got addressed, that he’ll prosper in all things just as his soul prospers. Now, if this letter got addressed to a fellow Christian, then it applies to us believers also.

There’s no doubt that any child of God who’s consistent with ministry experiences spiritual growth. But that’s not the finality. In fact, that should be the starting point and source from which other forms of prosperity, such as financial prosperity and improvement in healthy relationships, spring. Why? Because getting access to God’s Word increases your divine wisdom to handle other aspects of your life well.

In other words, to experience financial prosperity before God, you must be a student of the Bible and not just knowledgeable in business. Likewise, to have a healthy relationship with others, you must know how God wants you to treat others, just as it’s written in the Bible. Upholding this truth puts you on the path to life balance, so much so that no area of your life suffers gross ignorance and neglect.

Read and study the Bible daily. Read Christian books. Listen to sermon podcasts and healthful content from sources that will improve your life. You cannot discover everything by yourself. That’s why others have worked and still work to produce solutions to your problems. If there’s any area of your life you want to see improvement, work towards it as God graces you. Leave no stone unturned.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for expressing a deep interest in seeing me prosper in all things and not just in my relationship with you. Lead me to access useful materials I need as I seek solutions to the problems in my life. Amen.
