Early when Jesus started full-time ministry, He had the privilege of choosing twelve apostles to assist Him. Some were fishermen; others were also tax collectors. If you check the various occupations of the twelve apostles Jesus chose, none was directly related to the ministry. But after following Jesus, their lives changed drastically. Why? Because one man of vision showed up – Jesus. Bishop Gideon Titi-Offei of Pleasant Palace Church said that “The power of vision is that it transforms the visionary and other people around the vision.”
God-inspired vision is so powerful that everyone connected to it experiences a change in one’s life. You may not be a person who knows your divine mandate. But you may have found yourself in a place whereby you’re serving under another man’s vision. That’s not a problem. But sometimes, frustration sets in if you miss why God has placed you where you are. Today, I want to minister briefly on why you need to follow a Christian visionary leader. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
1. God will use him to transform your life
Most people in this world don’t specifically know what God brought them on the earth to do. As a result of that, they live purposeless lives and serve all kinds of lusts, especially the youth. But when one Christian visionary leader shows up in your life, you’ll understand what it means to live effectively. You’ll know the value of time and how to use your resources wisely. Why do I say this?
Visionary people are people who need help because the work they do is far beyond them. So when you come into contact with any of them in Christ, they’ll put you to work. They might not give you work immediately, but they’ll train and teach you based on their knowledge and vision.
Look at Jesus’ life. He didn’t immediately start to send the disciples out to preach. No. In fact, He called them first to be with Him before sending them out later (Mark 3:14). Every visionary leader knows that not all people around them really understand what God is using them to build. So they usually pay the price to raise leaders and team members to work with them. Sometimes, this even includes training people holding university degrees. It’s in the course of this training that you’ll see massive transformation in your life if you partake as a follower.
See, God doesn’t call everybody to start a new ministry, business or sort of work. Instead, He calls some to serve the visions of some pre-existing organisations. If God called everyone to start something new, there would be nothing like teamwork. Peter never started a new ministry. Jesus just handed over the baton of leadership to Him just before He left the earth physically.
Leaders do many things behind the scenes that bring the result everyone sees.

If you’re not called to start something new and are currently serving in a team, especially in the ministry, serve with all your heart (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Make choices to be there for service as much as possible. Find a way to become committed to your leader’s vision, and that place will be so glorious to work.
2. You will have the privilege of serving God
The second and last reason I want to share about this topic is that you’ll have the privilege of serving God. Aside from all the vocations in the world, it’s only visionary work done unto God’s glory that has eternal value. And when you serve God under the leadership of a man of vision, you’ll enjoy that privilege.
Yes, it’s not always easy to do God’s work. Sometimes, you have to lose comfort and extend some work hours to ensure some deadlines get met. Leaders feel this pressure much more than followers. Why? Because they do many things behind the scenes that bring the result everyone sees. Don’t cause pain to your leader by complaining, forfeiting or forgetting what he instructs you to do. He may not tell you why he gave you that work. But remember that your help contributes to the fulfilment of the co-operate vision of you are a part. Follow your leader well as long as he also leads you to Christ.
