[3] “Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” — Galatians 3:3 NIV
Have you ever been told by God to start something, and while you’re in the midst of doing it, things become messy? Maybe yes, maybe not. The question is, “What causes that?” Here’s the solution. Many people want to keep what they got by grace with human works and not with the same grace of God. Meanwhile, God didn’t make you to live that way.
For example, God told Adam that he shouldn’t eat any fruit from the forbidden tree. But the moment he heard of a different voice, that is, the voice of his wife, rather than the God who gave him that instruction, he disobeyed. Here we are, living in a world with so much chaos.
You can only excel in your divine calling if you keep what you got by grace with grace, not with your strategies or methods of doing things. Believe me; the Holy Spirit in you is very creative. Jesus said in John 16:13 (NIV) that,
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
If the driving force for direction is ideas and the Holy Spirit will tell you what is yet to come, then I can assure you that your life is well guided by the Lord if you live in submission unto Him.
However, when you set aside God’s leadership and take matters into your hands, you’ll realise things won’t go well. You may ask yourself why? The truth is that Jesus is the builder of His church, not you. So with whatever He has called you to do, He is the leader even as you’re the leader of your team or home (I speak to godly married men in this case). And because of that, His work by grace empowerment in you contributes directly to the global building of the Church. So anytime you rebel against Him, you’re veering off His original plan for His worldwide church building; that’s where failure sets in.
Today, pray for divine direction to renounce whatever structure you’ve built in your life, work, ministry or family that doesn’t glorify God. Allow God to prune you in His own way. So that your life will shine brighter, radiating His light in all areas of your life. Shalom!
Prayer:
Father, I denounce every structure, idea or virtual building I’ve raised to keep things running in my life which don’t glorify you. Correct where I’ve done the wrong thing. May I submit to your ideas and review every sentiment I conceive to build your kingdom in my domain. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
