“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 16:25 KJV
Have you reached a juncture in your life; where you feel like trying new things? I suppose you went through these moments some time ago. That’s not bad because God created man to have dominion over the earth, and it also involves exploring new undiscovered ways of doing things. But the question is, “do you know what God has specifically told you to do?”
You miss living out your uniqueness when you attempt to reproduce living other people’s divine mandates.
We’re supposed to imitate Christ and the things our leaders do that manifest Christ practically to us (1 Corinthians 11:1), not to desire to function in a calling God didn’t predestine us to fulfil.
When a person doesn’t know his purpose, he’ll live who he’s not. And for that reason, he’ll attempt new things to do barely to keep himself busy, only to realise later on that there’s no fulfilment in such activities. Now that explains why so many things people try to build end up in ruins just because they either don’t know or refuse to remain in their calling.
In Proverbs 16:25, the Bible tells us that there is a way in a person’s life that seems right, and yet it leads to the ways of death. After reading this verse, I asked myself, why?
Many people confuse the speaking of God with the suggestions from their human intellect. Now, God isn’t against us using our minds because He made them. However, He doesn’t like it when we substitute obeying what His Word says with what our intellect tells us.
For example, the Bible says in Luke 6:38 that “Give and it shall be given to you…”. But when you don’t have enough money to take care of yourself, your mind will tell you to keep what you have because you’ll use it in the future. What you’re thinking isn’t bad, but when it becomes a habit, you’ll be breaking one of God’s financial principles, and because of that, you’ll not see financial abundance.
From this, lack in such a person’s life affects his other areas, and this is the meaning of “ways of death” — so much struggle and hurt.
Child of God, understand that you cannot break God’s kingdom principles and expect kingdom results. No! God doesn’t compromise His principles because of anybody.
As good as an idea may look in your mind, as glamorous as what your contemporaries are doing, especially in ministry and business, you must be committed to following God’s plan for your life. I’m not saying refuse to learn from people. No! Do it. But when you do, assess what you learned to check which areas, when implemented in your life or organisation, will help improve and advance your work of purpose.
Life is too short to discover everything by yourself. Pick up wisdom from others, but never compare yourself to them, even if they’re ahead of you. Your race of faith in Christ is unique. Run it with patience.
Remember that you’re not a copy of others. Therefore know who you are and remain in your calling.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me stay faithful to You and the fulfilment of my divine mandate upon this earth. I choose to follow Your leading so that I’d not be affected by the spirit of competition. Amen!
