Stay Faithful

“Many claim to have unfailing love, but a faithful person who can find?” — Proverbs 20:6 NIV

Faithfulness is a rare virtue in our generation. Why? Because many people don’t know how to submit to another person’s divine vision, much more to talk about helping him fulfil it.

It’s important to understand that purpose isn’t independent. Instead, it’s interdependent. In other words, fulfilling each person’s purpose contributes to other people’s own. For example, suppose God has called you to become an ambassador of Christ in the military, but you decide not to enrol in the military school for formal training; how can you get to your high calling? The person or government that set up the military school did that on purpose, and you need to benefit from that vision before getting to the height God wants you to reach.

Purpose isn’t independent. Instead, it’s interdependent.

Faithfulness isn’t just about serving another person’s divine purpose but committing to its growth through the offering of diligent help that springs from the love of God. Love has everything to do with commitment throughout all the changing phases of life. That also places a demand on you to expel selfishness in your life.

Are you graced to serve in a ministry or workplace? Serve faithfully; as you avoid grudgings. When the seasons get tough, remember your commitment to God. If it’s work, remember the terms and agreements you agreed to when you were employed. Recollect that staying faithful, even in places of extreme discomfort, doesn’t limit how far God can take you. In most cases, those seasons of life are for your training.

Joseph, when sold by his own brothers, and sent to Potiphar, was the only Israelite in Egypt. That means he was the only person who served God in an entirely idolatrous nation. Yet, he stayed faithful to the commitment and call of God upon his life.

Discomfort doesn’t mean God is telling you to move away. You may have had consistent conflicts with your biological family or a bad boss at work to manage. However, remember that God will make a way. He loves you. Discern what He’s doing in each season in your life, and don’t let circumstances determine your countenance. Live in God’s presence, where there’s always joy even in the midst of life’s storms.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, help me stay faithful in the places You’ve planted me. Help me to discern what You want to teach me in every season of my life so that I don’t lose my providential way in you. Amen!
