“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” — Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV
Wealth is a blessing. It’s what we earn after working. It comprises all the outcomes of your work, such as increased impact, money, and other benefits.
God created work to serve as a means through which we can use it to affect our world. But we choose what to do with the wealth we gain through work. Some waste theirs on wild living. Some use theirs haphazardly. Some also use it to support the work of the ministry.
Everyone has what one spends money on. However, what you spend more money on is an indication of where your heart is. The Bible says in Luke 12:34 (NKJV),
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
That implies if your heart is with the Lord, honoring Him with your wealth won’t be a problem for you. Therefore, the easiest way to cultivate a healthy honor unto the Lord concerning wealth is by developing a devoted heart unto Him.
I want to share two benefits you’ll get when you honor the Lord with your wealth so that you’ll get inspired to support His work every time.
Proverbs 3:10 teaches that the honorer of the Lord will have his barns filled to overflowing; his vat also brimming over with new wine. In other words, the one who gives unto the Lord will receive abundantly in return.
Yes, I understand we live in uncertain times in the world. But we children of God aren’t of this world. We live in it but must do so by kingdom principles. Don’t let the negatives of media reports about finances push you back on honoring the Lord with your wealth. God is wiser, more ancient than any worldly system now. His systems still work to this day. Believe in His Word, and live by it. You’ll never be disadvantaged. Mind the Father’s business when budgeting.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
In the name of Jesus, Lord, I choose to honor you with my wealth. Help me live in the consciousness that it’s because of you that I have all that I have so that leasing out some to support your work will keep overflowing in my life. Amen!
