Your Treasure and Your Heart Will Always be in the Same Direction

[21] “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21 (NIV)

In Matthew 6:21, Jesus made a statement that I think is oblivious to many even though they live it. He said where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. That means your treasure and your heart will always be in the same direction. Ask yourself this question: what do I spend much of my money on? If you are able to answer that well, then it means that’s where the direction of your heart is turned to.

I have never seen a genuine minister of the gospel do ministry without committing a significant amount of his own personal finances to it. If it doesn’t happen, then he doesn’t love the ministry. Similarly, business owners who love what they do also invest in the business. Such people are not in business just because of money but because of passion.

So, because your treasure and your heart will always be in the same direction, it is essential to guard your heart against all forms of filth because when filth gets into it, your finances will become imbalanced. Why? Because your love for the Lord will wax cold (see Matthew 24:12). Guard your heart with all diligence because all the issues of life springs from it (see Proverbs 4:23).

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to love You better each day so I can commit more resources to You and Your work. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
