[30] “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” – John 14:30 (NKJV)
Jesus was one leader who went through several battles. He was tempted on every side, says Hebrews 4:15. The devil tried several times to get people to accuse him falsely. But one thing Jesus never lost during His physical ministry on earth is focus. He was so focused on fulfilling His divine assignment that the devil’s several attempts to make him involved in sin didn’t work. In John 14:30, Jesus boldly said that satan – the ruler of this world, is coming to Him, but he has nothing in Him. Wow!
I want to ask you a solemn question. Does the devil have a foothold in you? Or let me say it in another way. Can you boldly declare that the devil has no trace of sin in you? Can you really do that?
Several believers can’t do that, and that is unfortunate because holiness is not common in our generation. You may say Jesus was (and is still God), so He knew how to live above the dictates of sinful flesh. But today, the Bible says as Jesus is, so are you in this world (see 1 John 4:17). So the divine strength to live above sin is in your possession now. Failure to live like Jesus is not His fault; it is yours.
Probably, you have some secret struggles to overcome. It could be lust, stealing, lies, fornication, gossiping, and more. Today, there is grace to overcome such struggles. Repent from your faults and confess your sins. Clear any filthy things and relationships in your life that serve as bait to engage in bad things. And tell God to purge your mind of all moral filth.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your grace. Teach me to denounce any trace of evil in my life so that my life will be like Jesus. Amen!
