By[1] “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1 (NKJV)
In a world where the number of ministries and religious centres is increasing daily, it has become more prudent, now and ever, to test the spirits to see which ones are of God and which ones are fake. But, you cannot do this if you are not born again and not discerning in spirit. Many believers have been and continue to be deceived daily by messengers of the devil masquerading as prophets of God, which shouldn’t be so. But the question is, will you allow yourself to be deceived?
You have the right to test the spirits everywhere you go to worship God. In other words, there’s no problem doubting the authenticity of a servant of God until you confirm it by spiritual discernment and time. Why do I add time? It’s because time is a great revelator of secret things. Remember what Jesus said in Luke 12:2. He said,
“For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.” – Luke 12:2 (NKJV)
Don’t judge people, but be discerning about people’s actions. According to 1 John 5:4, whatever is not born of God doesn’t overcome the world. And we know that what’s in the world – the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life (see 1 John 2:16) are all bound to corruption. Therefore, anybody who isn’t of God won’t escape the corruption in the world. Take care of your spiritual well-being, and don’t subject it to deception. Pay the price to pursue a deeper intimacy with Jesus.
