Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” - John 8:12 NKJV
When you believe in Jesus, He gives you eternal life (John 3:16) and also power to become a child of God (John 1:12). Every child of God is different in this world because of the mark of Christ (Ephesians 1:13) upon one’s life. But few manifest their new different nature (new-creature) to its fullest because of the absence of light in numerous aspects of their lives. For example, a Christian may do well in prayer but lack divine knowledge in managing finances in God’s way.
Eternal life in Christ is free, but it requires all possessors (believers) to have divine light to live it out. That light is received when you follow Jesus. From the opening Bible text, Jesus said clearly, that anybody who follows Him would have the light of life. Now, some people confuse being born again with following Jesus. You cannot follow Jesus if you’re not born again, but you can be born again and still not follow Jesus.
When you sign up to receive email newsletters from us or another ministry, you’ll start receiving the emails, but it’s your choice to read them well, skim them or not read them at all. In the same way, when you get born again, you’ve received Christ into your life. But if you don’t spend time with God, read the Bible, listen and watch sermons, and be regular in church, you’ll not lose your salvation, but you’ll not have the light of life eternal to walk in your new creation realities.
The difference in the lives of many Christians is mainly a product of what they hear. God wants our minds to be renewed by His Word because He knows we live by what fills our minds. Follow Christ diligently, and you’ll be different amongst the lot. God be with you.
You’re a blessing.
