[20] “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” – 1 Corinthians 4:20 (NKJV)
The moment the word “power” is mentioned, many people think about two main things: politics and electricity. Politics, as in the authority politicians who get elected into power possess. And electricity, as in its generation and distribution across various areas of each country. Let me use the electricity option as an example in this devotional.
Without electricity, many things in the world won’t go well. Think about it if I didn’t have electricity in my vicinity. How can I power my laptop to write so you can be privileged to read this devotional? So though when electricity is present, many focus on using it, the moment it goes off, the impact is heavily felt. The kingdom of God functions in the same way. It is a matter of power, not mere words. But that power seems invisible and ineffective in a believer’s life until he understands it and learns how to use it effectively.
As a believer in Christ, God gave you the power to become His child when you received the gospel (see John 1:12). That means your spiritual makeup is full of power. That is why your prayer is powerful. In fact, you can cast out demons by your words because of the power God has given you. You can even command angels to minister for you (see Hebrews 1:14). Don’t sit down for things to happen without you doing anything about it. Exercise your kingdom authority using the name of Jesus.
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making me Your child through Your power. May I never cease walking in consciousness of my divine identity in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
