[12] “We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; [13] when we are slandered, we answer kindly. We have become the scum of the earth, the garbage of the world—right up to this moment.” – 1 Corinthians 4:12-13 NIV
When I was a little boy, I hardly saw pastors enjoying lavish lives. But as I grew, I saw some of them. And, of course, I didn’t know people could be so successful in ministry like that. However, after listening to some of the successful preachers, I realised that whatever people see them enjoy today never came by chance. They had suffered for several years, working longer than any average employee just to ensure things were going well.
Dear friend desiring to be in ministry, don’t think there’s no suffering in it. If you think like that, you’re wrong. It saddens me to say that for some ministers, even what to eat is sometimes a problem for them. Oh, God, have mercy.
Paul listed some of the secret sufferings he listed in 1 Corinthians 4. But you may say Paul laboured very hard. Yes, he did, but it cost him a lot. The same can happen to you, especially for those who want to command a higher height of impact in ministry. It takes work to be successful in ministry. So pay the price for it. God is with you!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for everything You keep doing for me. Help me bear any secret sufferings I endure to make Your Word reach people. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
