Are You a Myopic Believer?

[9] “For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.” – 2 Peter 1:9 (NKJV)

Myopia is a health condition in the eye whereby images farsighted look blurry for sight. In other words, myopic people are shortsighted people. And for that sake, they can’t see far objects well. Unfortunately, the Bible describes some believers as myopic because of the lack of some seven things in their lives, making them unproductive in their knowledge about Christ.

From 2 Peter 1:5-7, the Apostle Peter named seven things aside from faith, which, when built up in a Christian’s life, will become productive in knowing God and in the fulfilment of his divine mandate. They are virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. These are non-negotiable qualities in each child of God’s life. But the question is, do you have them? If yes, praise God, and I think even your life can testify to it. But if not, ask yourself why you don’t have them.

God doesn’t want you to suffer from spiritual myopia, which can blur your discernment to see and follow His plan for your life. He wants you to be effective in your walk with Him. Pursue a deeper intimacy with God, and you’ll see your life in Christ blessed beyond measure.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your grace upon my life. Help me cultivate everything I need in You to keep being productive in my calling. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
