[19] “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you,” – Galatians 4:19 (NKJV)
Every mother or father knows it is one thing to have a child and yet another to raise that child. Both of them require work. But of course, raising the child requires more work than bringing forth that child. Pregnancy takes up to a maximum of 40 weeks or nine months. But raising a child is for life, only to be significantly reduced when that child gets married in the future. Why do I say that? It’s because, for daughters, their head becomes their husbands when they get married. But for sons, the Bible says in Genesis 2:24 (NKJV) that,
“… a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
So, a male departs from the jurisdiction of parental authority over his life once he gets married. Right? But do these principles apply to our relationship with God? No! God will forever be your Father as His child. When you get saved, whether married or not, He doesn’t stop working on you. Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) says,
“… it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Discipleship is real work. God Himself, through the Spirit, does a part of the work. You must also commit to your personal spiritual growth by pursuing a deeper intimacy with God. Men of God also keep teaching you the Word.
As a believer, you shouldn’t take your relationship with God lightly. And as a shepherd, let it be in your consciousness that your work is not done when you introduce a soul to Jesus. Ensuring that person is discipled is even more laborious. Embrace it and let God strengthen you to work on it.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your discipleship over my life. Help me to disciple any soul You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
