[13] “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; [14] whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. [15] Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” – James 4:13-15 (NKJV)
We live in a world highly driven by economic activities on a daily basis. People make millions every day, and money exchanges ownership every single second. Because of this, several people get into business with the sole view of making money. I hardly hear anyone, even believers, say they are going to pray about any business idea they get before starting. In fact, it’s interesting how statistics reveal that about eight out of ten startups become defunct within two years of their inception. Why that high number? There are scriptures that prove it. First is Genesis 3:17, and the second is 1 John 5:4.
In Genesis 3:17, God cursed the ground and, since then, hasn’t overturned it. So today, any believer who doesn’t come to God for guidance before starting any business or ministry will struggle. Even more, in 1 John 5:4 (NKJV), the scripture says,
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
That means anything that doesn’t proceed from God is not bound to overcome the world (the curse of the ground). See, economies won’t become better with time. The cost of products will keep rising no matter what happens in this world. Things will keep getting worse because the world’s systems are built in antichrist ways. So, the only way to live ever triumphing is to follow God’s direction.
Dear entrepreneur, check for God’s will before starting that business. When you get clarity about it, it’ll either save you from wasting your time (if God doesn’t approve it) or help you make good returns on your investment (when God approves it).
God didn’t bring you on Earth merely to make money. As a matter of fact, your salvation is more important to God than the size of your bank account. So be guided in your quest for money.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your guidance in my life. Clarify every new venture I want to pursue whenever I pray about it. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
