You Shall Bear Fruit in Your Old Age

[13] “ Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. [14] They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,” – Psalms 92:13-14 (NKJV)

Many people see old age as a time to stay home, resting and eating without any meaningful work. Personally, I’ve encountered several old people who live like this. And although I respect them, it’s relatively sad to see such people not coming up with fresh innovations, if not to do, at least to pass them on to the next generation. Many are now in rooms, sick and fruitless. But God’s Word for the aged isn’t what I see in the trend. He says in Psalm 92:14 (NKJV) that,

“They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,”

But before this verse, it’s written in Psalm 92:13 that that prophecy is for those who are planted in the house of God (in other words, those who are rooted in Christ). During the time David wrote this Psalm, God dwelt in temples. But now, our bodies are His temple (see 1 Corinthians 6:19). So, to be planted in the house of the Lord is to be rooted in your knowledge of God. And for this to be possible, it’s required to live on fire with God right from a young age.

In a generation where immorality is prevalent, many young people don’t see the essence of serving God from a young age. All they want is money to establish themselves, leaving aside God’s work. Such a lifestyle is good in the flesh but has no eternal reward.

To the young believer who keeps investing in knowing God more intimately day by day, you shall bear fruit in your old age. You shall flourish in the courts of God. You shall come up with innovations that make God known in this evil generation in the name of Jesus.

Don’t give up when your compatriots mock you for being an outlier as you serve Jesus. Always remember that the fruit of sowing in the Spirit takes time. God will promote you from glory to glory. Keep serving Him.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to keep pursuing to know You more intimately. Guide my feet that I will live according to Your plan for my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
