Know Who You Are

Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” - John 1:19-20 NKJV

Identity crisis is a dominant plague in our world. Some people find it difficult to know who God has made them. Others who know who they are, are constantly pressured to be who they’re not. Men look at outward appearance, but God knows everybody’s heart (1 Samuel 16:7). You’re not who people say you are. You’re who God says you are, whether you realize it or not.

John the Baptist was a man in the Bible who didn’t have a spiritual identity crisis. He knew he was the one who came to fulfil a prophecy Isaiah made in Isaiah 40:3. For this cause, John didn’t have a problem telling everyone that he wasn’t the Christ (Messiah). It didn’t matter how much pressure he encountered from the Jewish leaders. Once he knew who he was, he confessed his identity freely.

It’s easy to live unto God if you know who He has made you. Learn from others but don’t wish to be like them. God has made you unique, so look into His Word to find who you are and why you were born. Remember this, every Christian’s identity can be found in the scope of God’s Word.

You’re a blessing.
