[4] “Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.” – Psalms 31:4 (NIV)
As a child of God, you must never forget that you live in an evil age (see Galatians 1:4). And as such, many people don’t think as good of you as you think of them. Do you know why I am saying that? It’s because when you, child of God, constantly fellowship with God, He’ll cleanse your life and transform your mind, so much so that you’ll think no evil of anyone. But because you’ll live with a clear mindset, you may be deceived to think that everyone is thinking like you. That’s dangerous. David knew this. That is why he said in Psalms 31:4, “Keep me free from the trap that is set for me…”.
People you think no evil of may plan and set traps before your life’s path that you know nothing of. In fact, I’ve seen this at least twice in my life, one against me and second, against someone I know. And in both cases, God kept me and my friend from falling into those traps.
Listen, dear believer, not everyone around you believes in you or what you say to them. And no evil planner will do that when you’re around. They’ll always conspire against you when you’re not with them. Look at Joseph’s case. His brothers planned to kill him when he wasn’t around. For Jesus, the Pharisees planned to kill Him in a closet, same for Paul, James and other disciples. Sometimes, the people who do these outrageous things aren’t even unbelievers. Some of them may be ministers of the gospel, who preach to others to get saved. Some can also be religious leaders. Nowhere is entirely safe, including church. So don’t be dependent on people for security. Depend on God, and He will keep you safe every single time.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, keep me free from the trap set before me. Deliver me according to Your Word. Save me from meandering Your providential way. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
