Depend on God

“Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”” - 2 Kings 4:3-4 NIV

God is a God of order. But sometimes, we allow the order in which we do things to prevent Him from doing everything in His way in our lives. Anybody who doesn’t depend on God to do supernatural things will live like a commoner. It’s wrong to have eternal life in Christ and be fully dependent on earthly systems and intellectual knowledge. The ways of God usually contradict the world’s systems.

One time, a prophet’s widow came unto Elisha asking for help because her two boys were about to be taken as slaves. If it were today, the agitations of the woman alone would spark anxiety, especially in those who don’t have enough to help. Elisha didn’t have enough money to help this woman. But he went random with God. He discerned what God would do to solve the issue and then executed it accordingly. He told the woman to borrow as many jars as possible, knowing well that God can make the little oil available flow continuously.

Upon simple obedience, this woman had enough oil to sell, pay off her debt and live on the remaining with her children. Believe that God can do mighty things in every Christian’s life. If you limit God, you’ll not entirely depend on Him to do great things. Don’t allow your current level of spiritual understanding to make you think that God can do as much as you can imagine. He can do more (Ephesians 3:20). Trust God and expect a daily random occurrence of supernatural things in your life.

You’re a blessing.
