[9] “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” — Psalms 25:9 NIV
There’s a difference between what’s good and what’s right. It might be similar, but never the same. For example, a tangerine may look like orange from a farther view, only to be discerned well upon a closer approach. That person who looked at the fruit may mistakenly conclude that it’s orange. His discernment of the fruit was good from afar but was wrong upon a closer look.
In other words, you can discern what’s right from what’s good by taking a closer look at it. And by saying “closer,” I don’t mean always using your human intelligence to judge situations. No! You have to recognise the work of God in discernment.
In Psalm 25:9, David says God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. So to receive and submit to God’s guidance, you must possess humility. And the fascinating part of this is that; it’s the same God who works in you both to will and do His good pleasure. He can make you humble through spiritual training.
So I’d urge you to draw near to God. Take a careful look at your life right now. See where you have to create time to spend in God’s presence. Because if you worship Him, you’ll be humble. And if you’re humble, He’ll teach you His way easily because of your willingness and obedience.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me become more humble and submissive unto Your Word. Lead and guide me in the way everlasting as I navigate life by the light of Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
