“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” — James 4:8 NKJV
Salvation is free, but how far you’ll go with God depends on you, not Him. There are people doing big things for God, and there are still some believers who live as nominal Christians doing nothing for God. Both categories of people will go to heaven when Jesus comes today, but the eternal rewards won’t be the same because the works vary.
If you want to do more for God, there’s one thing to do. That is, to draw near to Him by being in consistent fellowship with Him. God desires to be known and fellowshipped. But many Christians aren’t taking advantage of this reality.
The couple who knows each other so well attained that height of intimacy not because they lived together as husband and wife but because they spent adequate time with each other consistently.
Relationships thrive by the wise investment of time and resources with people who love one another, and it’s the same in Christ and Christian marriages. In fact, marriage is just an earthly picture of Jesus’ relationship with the Church.
If you’re not intentional with how you want your life to be, anything can take your attention.

Maybe you’ve allowed your job or ministry to take so much of your time that you can’t even pray alone anymore. Could it be that you’ve been so busy attending to the duties of life that you’ve started skipping church? Can I tell you something?
If you’re not intentional with how you want your life to be, anything can take your attention. Draw near to God today. Watch your life closely. Start analysing how you use your time and resources. You’ll see that there’ll always be space to make time to be with God. If you’re married or in a relationship, agree with your spouse on spending time with the Lord together. Don’t allow worldly pressures to rob you of your time with God. Be intentional in sowing into your relationship with God.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Father, I pray that you’ll help me recognise the flaws that have plagued me from having a glorious relationship with You so that by divine wisdom and dexterity, I’ll return to the place of intimate fellowship with You each day of my life in Jesus name. Amen!
