As humans, there are times things are okay and also times things are hard. That is not a matter of religion because it happens to all people. During the bad times, most Christians, especially babes in the Lord, turn to give up and lose hope in the Lord. But for you, what do you do?
David’s Method of Dealing With Anxiety
[7] “Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.”
Psalms 27:7 NKJV
David prayed to God when he was down in several Psalms. The above verse is just one of them. And according to Philippians 4:7, prayer helps us to become filled with God’s peace. So it is not wrong to emulate David’s prayerful ways and to trust God to meet our needs.
Place Your Request Before God
As Christians, we put our requests before the Lord in prayers. Sometimes, our prayer requests get answered quickly. But other times, the requests are delayed and may not even be answered.
James 4:3 (NKJV) says,
[3] “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”
The above verse took my attention very well. In fact, upon pondering on it, I realised that God loves us so much that He says no to the things we ask Him which will lead us to destruction.
Ask God your needs with the right motives
When we go to the Lord in prayer, praying for our needs, we should always remember to keep good motives behind what we pray for. Proverbs 16:2 tells us that though we may think what we have in mind is right, motives are weighed by God. Let your requests be made known unto God, but not with bad intentions.
Your sufficiency Is of God
A lot of times, some of us think that God can do specific things in our lives and not others. So we try to do some with our strength and leave the rest for God. Upon my meditation on 2 Corinthians 3:5, I realised that our sufficiency is of God. He strengthens us to do all things and makes all things possible to achieve in Christ. So though we draw our plans and set our goals trying to achieve them, there is something behind our physical strength that will keep us going no matter what. Therefore, if what you want to achieve is God-inspired, then submit to Him to empower you and direct your path.
Dear friend, I encourage you to commit to God in all you do; He alone knows what is good for you. Do not lose hope in the Lord because He will never give up on you. Cast all your care upon the Lord because He will meet every need of yours. You’re a blessing!
