[18] “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. [19] Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [20] Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” — Matthew 7:18 - 20 NKJV
All my life, I’ve never seen a woman give birth to an animal, nor an animal giving birth to a human being. God made this world such that each specie reproduces after its own kind, not after another’s. So it’s a pattern no scientific discovery can change. But little did I know that this pattern applies beyond reproduction to character expression.
Once upon warning His disciples about false prophets, Jesus says a good tree can’t bear bad fruit, neither can a bad tree bear good fruit. So to identify whether a tree is good or bad, you only have to check the fruit, not the branches. Moreover, if a tree has good roots, it’ll grow well, and vice versa for bad roots. So here’s how I understand it in relation to people, especially Christians.
If you’re connected to God, you have a good root. But if you’ll reflect His character and nature, it depends on the nutrients you take from Him. In other words, your relationship with God directly affects your character. That’s why Jesus said, “… by their fruits you will know them.” A false prophet may not be connected to God at all or is connected to God without any personal relationship with Him. The latter is just like marrying someone without communication. It’s just terrible.
Intensify your labour to draw near to God (James 4:8). He desires you to come around every time because to witness Jesus better in your location, you must know Him intimately. Remember that as a child of God, you’re a foreigner in this world. You belong to God’s kingdom, so you’re an ambassador of Christ. Live with this enlightenment as you glorify Jesus in all your ways.

Father, thank You for the revelation that people will validate the authenticity of Your children’s relationship with You by our character. Give us the wisdom to intensify our individual connection with you beyond corporate spiritual meetings. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
