[29] “The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.” — Proverbs 10:29 NIV
When masons are in the process of constructing a well-planned building, they don’t forget to make provisions for its ceiling and roofing at the top. Why? Because the ceiling and the roofing of the building protect it from rain, sunshine and other harmful things falling from the sky. So buildings need refuge, and that refuge covers those who are in the building.
Proverbs 10:29a says, “The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless …”. So to the child of God, your protection is walking in the way of the Lord. In other words, living by divine direction is for your safety.
That is why so many wayward Christians end up in wrong places in life. They refuse to walk in God’s ways, turning from sin with intentionality. For example, the woman who saw in the Word that sexual immorality is evil and still chooses to engage in it ends up diverting from God’s ways. No wonder premarital pregnancies are increasing daily.
God is the maker of this world. He is the ancient of days. He created everything it is. So when He warns us about something, we must take it seriously because He’s not shortsighted. He sees what’s ahead of us. Today, you’ve learned that walking in God’s ways is for your protection. Live by this divine light.
Prayer:
In the name of Jesus, Father, correct me if I’ve diverted from following You in any of my paths. Prune me to become more productive in divine knowledge. Amen!
