The Pattern of the World

While Paul in Romans 12:2 cautions believers not to conform to the pattern of the world, 1 John 2:16 opens up what’s in this world that forms its pattern. They are the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life. If you look at what is going on in the lives of worldly people very carefully, you’ll be able to discern that at least one of these three things is at work in their lives.

You Have Been Set Free from Sin

Even though the law of sin works in every unbeliever, one can be set free from sin by God’s deliverance (salvation) through Jesus Christ our Lord. So, if you are saved, you have been set free from sin and its entire consequences. Why? Because Christ Jesus has delivered you from God’s wrath.

Who Told You That You Were Naked?

Sometimes, when God prevents you from doing certain things, it’s for your own protection, not limitation. Adam and Eve’s case wasn’t different. God wanted their minds to be filled with only what is good, not a mixture of good and evil. And let me tell you that that desire is still in God’s heart for every believer today.

Covenant Eyes — Avoid Staring at Forbidden Things

Eve’s continual staring at that forbidden tree watered down her conscience of not eating from it, and she later succumbed to that lust. Don’t let that be your case. You are not supposed to flirt with things God has called you to flee from and think you have enough strength to face that temptation. No! Don’t go near it as much as possible.

Watch Yourself as You Help Others Recover from Sin

According to Galatians 6:1, when you, as a child of God, catch someone involved in sin, you are required to restore the person in the spirit of gentleness. However, there is a following caution in that same scripture: It says that you must watch yourself, lest you also get tempted by the same sin you’re helping that fellow to recover from.

Abstain from Fornication

As a child of God, know that the Holy Spirit is inside you. Your body is His temple (see 1 Corinthians 6:19). That means, with His help, you can devise ways and means to control your body in sanctification (consecration or purity of your heart and life) and honour (value).

Take Precautions to Control Yourself

When Jesus said we should get rid of any body part that causes us to sin, He was cautioning us to take precautions to control ourselves from getting involved in evil deeds, not necessary doing surgery to cut them out. Sustain your godly integrity with divine wisdom.

Flee from Sexual Immorality

Understanding why God has given you a body for the Holy Spirit to dwell in and becoming conscious of it is an even more powerful way to flee from sexual immorality. Why? Because you’ll learn how to control your body and use it purposefully.
