[3] “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; [4] that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,” – 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 NIV
We live in an age where the sexuality of males and females is constantly under attack. In the days of old, you’ll hardly see people walking half-naked on the streets. Today, the tide has turned. Research shows that the number of people watching pornography each day is increasing, and unfortunately, some Christians are part of that number. Oh, what a tragedy! Where is the purity God has told us to uphold as believers? Hmm!
Just as it is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:3, so I say again to you that it is God’s will for you to abstain from sexual immorality. When God’s Word speaks of avoiding sexual immorality, it isn’t only about being faithful to your spouse but also to God. Self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit. So, the more you draw near God, the more your life will reflect Jesus, and the more your body will be attuned to the ways of God.
Because it’s written clearly in scripture that the world lies in wickedness (see 1 John 5:19), I can assure you that things won’t get better with immorality. It will get worse. So don’t look to the world for hope! Anchor your faith in Christ!
You are a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your immeasurable grace upon me. May I ever live self-controlled in this life, despite the pressures from the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
