[18] “Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.” – Ecclesiastes 9:18 (NIV)
I haven’t been a soldier before. But from the constant study of scriptures, especially the Old Testament, I’ve realised that whenever there’s an impending war, the planning of how to go about it plays a significant role in winning that war. And God kept giving the Israelites various plans to win their wars. From this, wisdom is better than weapons of war.
You see, you can have many resources. But if you lack the wisdom to manage it, you’ll misuse it. If the defence ministry of your country has large stocks of arms without wise soldiers serving the nation, others will steal those arms and use them to commit crimes. Wisdom is the force that directs how resources ought to be used to achieve maximum results. Without it, you’re in trouble. That is why anybody who invests in divine knowledge in Christ always improves his quality of life.
Don’t just work on weekdays, chill on Saturdays and go to church on Sundays. Life isn’t about such routines. Invest in knowing God intimately every single day. Dedicate your life to learning. For one of the bridges between where you are and where God has called you to be is wisdom, and fortunately, God is the liberal giver of wisdom. Come to Jesus today!
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to know You better every day of my life. Assist me to build structures around my life that’ll make me more dependent on You for more wisdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
