“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” — Proverbs 2:6 NIV
In a world where many things are available on the internet for media consumption, it’s easy to think wisdom is everywhere. The Bible has said clearly that the Lord is the giver of wisdom. That implies that not everything that appears as “wisdom” actually comes from God.
Wisdom, according to God’s perspective, means the use of spiritual understanding to cause a significant Christ-centred impact in every area of life, be it personal or territorial.
The Lord is the giver of wisdom. But you may ask, what kind of giver is He? James 1:5 (NIV) says,
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5 (NIV)
God is a liberal giver of wisdom. He doesn’t check whether you merit it or not; neither does He do fault-finding when giving out wisdom. However, one thing God expects us, believers, to do to get His wisdom is by asking Him in prayer.
If we Christians don’t ask Him for wisdom, He’ll not provide it, not because He can’t do it, but because we’ve not seen how much we need it.
You don’t need to work for everything you should get (spiritual and material needs) in Christ. There are privileges in the love of God. If you ask the lover of your soul for wisdom, He’s willing to grant your request.
Nobody goes before a giver without expecting to receive. When you recognize the bountiful riches and an excellent life you can live here on earth just because you possess divine wisdom, proceed to pray to God acquire it. Let your request be made known to the Lord, and have faith to receive. You’ll see that you shall have what you say. Blot out the doubt and inner self-condemnation in your mind and trust God to give you your needs.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
God, today I’ve learnt that you’re the giver of wisdom. Make me recognise how essential I need Your wisdom and conceive the faith to receive it in me, as I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!
