“But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ “ ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.” — Luke 15:29 - 31 NIV
There are privileges in love. But sometimes, the people involved are either ignorant or have little knowledge of them. In the love of God, all things are ours because Christ is in us (Ephesians 1:22). However, not all Christians have their minds laid on it. Therefore sometimes, it’s a bit annoying before God when His children ask Him for peanuts. The problem isn’t God’s ability to provide but our own limited mindsets.
We all know the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. This son squandered all the inheritance his father gave to him in wild living. Later, he had enough sense to come home. When he arrived, his father embraced him and threw a party for him. But the elder brother got furious. He didn’t want to step into the party. He complained that his father had never killed a goat for him to celebrate with his friends. Meanwhile, he received his inheritance when the younger brother demanded his (Luke 15:12).
This boy was so focused on working for his father that he didn’t know his family privileges in love. All his father’s possessions were his. But he chose only to work without enjoying his possessions.
That’s what happens to many Christians, especially those working for the Lord. Many of us get so busy working for God that we forget to enjoy the benefits He provides for us, directly or through others.
God will always provide the possessions (both spiritual and physical) not only for your usage but also for your enjoyment. But the question is, “Can you see them when He makes them available?”
Stop asking God for peanuts. It doesn’t honour Him. He loves you. He cares for you and will provide for you. But please, enjoy the privileges in His love. It’s for your good.
You’re a blessing.
