By[4] “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4 (NKJV)
There are two principal spiritual forces – God and the devil. Even though it’s pointless to compare God to the devil because the devil isn’t even God’s classmate, let’s take on the comparison for the sake of this devotional.
The Bible says in 1 John 4:4 that since you are of God, you have overcome the world. Why? Because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. But the question is, who is in the world? It’s the devil. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says he’s the god of this world. There is no light in him. He is full of wickedness and darkness. But because he’s deceptive, he has mastered deceiving people to think there’s glory in following him, forgetting that this devil does a dark soul business and pays it with destruction in the end. Jesus said in Matthew 6:16 that,
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
This verse means that the devil can give a man what’s in the world but will take ownership of his soul in the end. That is why I am convinced nobody can legitimately rise to the top without God’s help. Any means to reach that height of life without God will involve evil practices. Many of the wealthy unbelievers you’re seeing in this world hardly have a clean source. Most of them practice evil things behind the scenes.
Don’t be deceived, child of God. In fact, the things in this world don’t match what God has in store for you. Fret not, and keep holding on to God. He will help you.

Father, thank You for being greater in me than anything in the world. I pray that my eyes will gaze on Your beautiful promises over my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
