[8] “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” – 1 John 4:8 (NKJV)
1 John 4:8 has been quoted several times by many preachers, including myself. And usually, it is the ending part that is referenced the more, which says, “God is love.” And that is good. It is essential to know that the entirety of God’s identity is wrapped up in love. So, because of that, anybody born again has God’s love shed abroad in his heart (see Romans 5:5). Meaning that you cannot but love as a child of God.
Today, any believer who doesn’t walk in love automatically starts living a hypocritical lifestyle. Why? Because the nature of that lifestyle contradicts God’s identity. Secondly, the Spirit of Christ, who dwells in each believer, has no relationship with evil works.
Dear believer, love is the core of your spiritual makeup. So, if you don’t walk in your God-ordained identity, then you are signing up to live a hypocritical life, which shouldn’t be said of you. As the scripture says, whoever does not love does not know God, endeavour to pursue a deeper intimacy with God, knowing that your love for Him won’t fade.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, help me to love You better, as well as Your people, no matter where I find myself. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
