“God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.” - Psalms 68:6 NIV
Being alone is different from being lonely. Every unmarried person is alone, but anybody at all can be lonely.
Loneliness is a disorder that needs to be dealt with, not a marital status of an individual. Therefore, it’s not solved by being attached to another person in a relationship. Who then has the solution to loneliness?
According to Psalm 68:6, the One who has the solution to loneliness is God. And He solves it by setting the lonely in families. Notice the Bible doesn’t say that God sets the lonely in groups of people. There’s a difference between belonging to a group and belonging to a family. Some people call themselves family. Meanwhile, their members act a lot more like a social club group that’s not interested in people’s welfare.
The family that God sets the lonely in isn’t the biological one. It’s the spiritual one, the brethren in Christ. These people are found in the churches and fellowships we belong to.
God knows there are Christians who feel lonely in their biological families. So He helps them by establishing them in Christian communities. Are you lonely? Mingle with other believers and share your issues with those you trust. I tell you that loneliness will leave you. Find your rhythm in God’s family of believers all around you. They’ll help you.
You’re a blessing.
