“Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.”- Luke 1:56 NIV
No man is an island. Jesus still saves people each day. But not all Christians are like-minded to be befriended. When a man (not gender-related) catches a divine vision, he feels alone, isolated, and without helpers. He has to guard his conviction against being watered down in times of isolation. That is why visionary believers are encouraged to stay with like-minded people who’ll help them hold on firmly to God’s call in uncertain times.
Look at what Mary did. She was alone when angel Gabriel visited and gave her the news about Jesus. Even though she had a fiance, Joseph wasn’t too like-minded to enjoy her company. Joseph was even displeased with the news that he decided to divorce her quietly (Matthew 1:19). It took God to stop him from carrying out that decision.
Mary needed someone on the same path she was walking on, and that person was Elizabeth. The Bible says Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months before returning home. Now, look at this. If the angel told her that Elizabeth was six months pregnant, then it means Mary may have seen John the Baptist born before she left, although it’s not scriptural and accurate because of the word “about” in our opening verse above (Luke 1:56).
Assuming Mary saw John the Baptist born, then it means she had a solidified reason to believe God’s Word over her life. Why?— Because the impossible had been made possible with an old woman like Elizabeth.
Some people abandon their divine callings because they don’t stay with like-minded people. Will you do what Mary did? Move from your comfort zone (house) and be with someone whom you trust so much to share your vision with, especially your partner in life. May God guide you to find like-minded Christians.
You’re a blessing.
