“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” - Proverbs 27:17 NKJV
One of the easiest ways to ignite a smile on a dull person’s face is to approach the person with a smile. Many people aren’t able to overcome depression because they don’t have others who encourage them to move on in life. Well, here is a Biblical principle from Proverbs 27:17 that each Christian must practise to encourage and help one another.
According to the Bible verse above, a man (not gender-based) can only sharpen the countenance of his friend. Sharp knives sharpen blunt knives only when they’re rubbed against each other. In other words, we can only help people we interact with. Everybody needs somebody. But before those helpers will come, you have to invest in their lives.
Spend time with people who love you just as you are because they’ll become your advisors when you’re in trouble. Don’t be so selfish about your life that you ignore checking up on others who matter to you. If God doesn’t treasure our fellowship with Him, He wouldn’t have sent Jesus to die for us just to help us to become His children. Love one another.
You’re a blessing.
