Victory Is Won Through Many Advisors

[6] “Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.” – Proverbs 24:6 (NIV)

I remember when I was born again afresh, I was welcomed by a group of great believers who helped me grow spiritually. But none of them told me that there would be tribulations and storms in my faith journey, so I thought life was always up and up. Guess what? I was greatly mistaken. It’s been eight years serving God, and I have seen worse things done by people I never thought they could do those evils to. But I thank God that my faith in Him is still strong. I suppose you’ve also realised that being a Christian doesn’t insulate you from encountering troubles in life, some of which are not your fault.

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived on this Earth, said that when it comes to war (finding solutions to problems), you need guidance. That means that what you know will not always be enough to battle the issues you face. So, normalise outsourcing of information to make your life better. But be careful where you get the information. For example, I prefer reading Christian books to reading self-help books, especially those written by unbelievers.

What you see and read every day has much influence on your life. Victory is won through many advisors – wise advisors, of course. Amnon was advised by his friend Jonadab to use evil means to get Tamar to sleep with her (see 2 Samuel 13:3-5). And guess what, he died prematurely. Meanwhile, Naaman’s servant advised her master’s wife that Naaman should see the prophet Elijah and eventually got healed of leprosy (see 2 Kings 5:1-5).

Be careful who you accept into your close circle. There’s no friendship without influence.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me meaningful friendships in my life. I pray that You’ll direct my life to get in contact with the right counsel for any situation I go through. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
