Do not Associate with People Given to Change

[21] “My son, fear the LORD and the king; Do not associate with those given to change;” – Proverbs 24:21 (NKJV)

Did you know that God never changes? It’s written in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus, who’s fully God, is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So because of His holy character, He only transforms people to become who He originally made them to be. Apart from that, any self-motivated change from humans is bound to end in frustration. That’s why He, through the preacher Solomon, said in Proverbs 24:21 that we should not associate with people given to change.

Can we analyse the phrase “given to change”? It’s fair to change something when the way you’re doing it isn’t working for you. For instance, you can change your phone if you have money and feel like the one you’re currently using doesn’t suit your purpose. But to be given to change means you’re constantly changing what you’re doing so fast. Such is the lifestyle of confused people in this world. They lack purpose, and because of that, they follow what others tell them because they cannot hear what God is telling them to do.

Child of God, disassociate from people living confused. Do not follow their counsel, or else they’ll infect you with their confusion. God created you on purpose for a purpose. Find out that purpose by developing a deeper intimacy with Him, follow Him as you’ve heard Him speak, and your life won’t be the same again.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to discover my reason for living so that I will become distinguished from the people around me who are living confused. Lead and guide me in the way everlasting. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
