“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8 NIV
In Mathematics, a constant is a value that never changes under any condition or wherever it gets used. For example, the number 1 is still one anywhere people use it.
Hebrews 13:8 is the perfect scripture that shows us the constancy of Jesus. It says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday (speaking of times past), today (the present), and forever (the future and eternity).
So from this, we understand that Jesus, being fully God and man, is constant. He’ll never change. And since everything is created in Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16), only Him has the power to change people. The power of the gospel to transform lives doesn’t lie in the intellect or eloquence of the preacher but in the Christ in him who inspires him to speak the Word.
Unlike mobile applications, websites, and other technological innovations that undergo constant updates to become better, Jesus doesn’t have a better version of Himself. If the Bible says He’s the only Way, Truth, and Life (John 14:6), there’s no better version of all those capabilities in Him. He’s in His best state every time.
Has He told you, through the Holy Spirit, that He’ll make you great? Instead of doubting, rather believe in His Word. He isn’t like a man who says one thing and changes his mind later. Our Jesus is constant under all time spaces. Listen to Him, for He’s faithful to His Word.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh, Jesus, I thank you for showing us in your word that you’re constant no matter what life brings to us. Help us lay hold on Your Word, and always choose You above all flashy presentations of the world which change and fade with time.
