“We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.” — James 3:2 NIV
Words are so powerful. Because they get easily spoken, most people have difficulty keeping a tight reign on their tongues. Apostle James knew this perfectly. So he said in James 3:2b (NIV) that “… Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.”
It’s your responsibility as a Christian to check the words you speak. You must ensure no corrupt communication comes out of your mouth (Ephesians 4:29). But you may ask, “how is it possible?”
Well, I’d say it involves walking in the consciousness of Christ.
When you are always aware that Christ is in you, and in Him you live, move, and have your being (Acts 17:28), this knowledge will guide you every time. There’ll be no need to use your human efforts to check the words you speak since spiritual things will abound in your heart. And once your heart is right with God, it’ll reflect in your speech pattern.
The Bible says, “…the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45 NIV)
Friend, do not worry about always speaking right. Just be in fellowship with God consistently. Treasure His presence and keep His Word, for God has the power to cleanse every filthy thing in the mind and heart before it comes out as words.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Oh, Jesus, teach me how to live in the consciousness that you’re in me; so that the words I speak daily will overflow from the bountiful fellowship I have with you. Amen!
