Blessed Is Anyone Who Does Not Stumble on Account of Jesus

[4] Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: [5] The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [6] And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” – Matthew 11:4-6 (NKJV)

When Jesus’ ministry was blossoming in impact, John the Baptist’s own was fast decreasing, and he was even in prison. But while in prison, the man of God sent some people to clarify who Jesus was. And Jesus said in Matthew 11:4-6 that,

…“Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: [5] The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. [6] And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

John the Baptist already knew who Jesus was. But upon sending people to clarify again whether He was (and still is) the Messiah, Jesus knew that the man was offended on account of Him. Some people in ministry get envious when they see their own fellows do well more than them. Some preachers go as long as holding meetings just to talk bad about another preacher. What a tragedy! Have we forgotten that each congregant or member first belongs to God before He (God) entrusted him (the individual) to us to shepherd? Think about that.

Blessed is anyone who doesn’t stumble on account of Jesus. That means blessed are you when you rejoice in Jesus’ marvellous works in another person’s ministry. Ministry isn’t like a business where there is competition. No! It belongs to God. Let Him direct you as you do it.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for Your love. May I always live rejoicing in the marvellous works you do in my life and others. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
