[40] “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” – Matthew 10:40 (NKJV)
When Jesus sent His disciples to go and preach the gospel for the first time, there were several instructions He gave them to serve as a guide on their journey. Today, these are the same instructions every minister needs to get into full-time ministry. First of all, He told them not to take some basic life necessities with them (see Matthew 10:9-10). But in verse 40, He said to them that anybody who receives them has received Him, and that means such a person has also received the Father, who sent the Son. No wonder Jesus said in John 14:23 (NKJV) that,
… “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
It takes a heart that loves God to accept His servants who come to minister to them. So, dear friend, I want to tell you to welcome Jesus in your home by not shunning away preachers who come around for evangelism. Yes, I understand that many people in ministry today aren’t doing it well because of bad intentions. But at least don’t neglect the Word of God.
Take God seriously, and don’t leave your life to chance. Remember that it is in God you live, move and have your being. So never neglect Him, no matter how busy your life is at the moment.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, lead Me. Help me to honour You in my household every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
