[36] “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” – Matthew 9:36 (NKJV)
If you can examine yourself in the faith, I want to check your level of compassion for souls to be saved. Nowadays, the number of Christians who evangelise is gradually reducing because many have lost compassion for souls, which is quite unfortunate. In 1 Timothy 2:4, the scripture says God desires that all men will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. So, if this same God lives in you and you don’t have compassion for souls, then there’s something wrong in your relationship with Him.
Have you seen an unhappy couple before? What is the first thing that comes to mind? Either they have offended each other, or they’re not meeting their individual needs. Now, if marriage is a picture of Jesus’ relationship with the Church, which you’re part of, then not living like Jesus means you’re not so intimate with Him. It’s that simple.
Today, if you want to increase your compassion for souls, you don’t have to organise many crusades. No! You just have to pursue a deeper intimacy with Him. And out of that, He will give you the passion to reach out to the lost. Preaching to the lost without compassion for them is burdensome.
Whether you’re an ordained pastor or a servant in the Lord’s house, reaching out to others with the message of Christ is your responsibility. You have been given the message of reconciliation to live as an ambassador of Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:18-20). Find strength in God. Let Him give You a divine vision that will impact generations and work towards it with Him on your side.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, increase my compassion to see souls come to Your light by the preaching of Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
