[5] “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” – 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV)
The mind is not an empty part of human makeup. No matter how young it is, it is always processing something. That is why thoughts are so powerful that it has a direct influence on man’s way of living. Think of a day you made a decision without your mind processing it. It’s just impossible. Right?
Now, there are spirits in this world. And they are the highest influencers in people’s minds. God influences minds through the Holy Spirit. The devil does too – through demons, of course. For God’s influence, it’s unto good. But for the devil’s influence, it’s unto evil. However, the devil is very cunning and deceptive. He can masquerade evil and present it as good in your mind. And as a believer, you must be highly discerning to know the thoughts which are of the devil and God’s. But how can you do that? By feeding your spirit with the Word. Why the Word? Because it is alive, powerful and sharper than any double-edged sword (see Hebrews 4:12).
God’s Word is your weapon against the devil. If you don’t want to entertain evil thoughts in your mind, it is the Word of God you need to confront it. The enemy doesn’t submit to people’s distractive suggestions. He submits to the Word. So invest in spending time with God in order to understand your spiritual authority as a believer to use it.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me. I choose to treasure Your Word above all else in managing the thoughts that come through my mind. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
