The Enemy Is Not Your Friend

[16] “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,” – Matthew 8:16 (NKJV)

Many believers are aware of the truth that the devil is evil, and that is good. But many have been subtly deceived to think that this enemy is their friend. Let me explain this. When the devil came to Eve and told her that she could eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, this woman thought the serpent had something valuable to share with her, so she gave in. Later, Adam also fell to this deception. Today, look at the evil people are doing in the world. One disobedience in the Garden of Eden opened the portal of sin to enter the world, and since then, it has been hard for people to live godly lives.

Jesus is your friend, not the devil. And so whatever Jesus leads you to do has an impact on multiple generations. On the other hand, the devil’s actions are geared towards destroying, killing and stealing. You cannot trust the devil so much that you’ll bet your life on him. When you do that, you’re setting yourself up for an evil end. Adam and Eve died for obeying the serpent. So anybody who sows in the flesh will reap corruption (see Galatians 6:8).

Jesus wants you to live a godly life, so much so that without Him, you will not be able to do anything meaningful in God’s sight. But you cannot have a godly lifestyle if you don’t have a relationship with Him. That is why you must be born again today if you’re not.

The Son of Man was manifested to destroy the works of the enemy (see 1 John 3:8). The devil may not come to you as a demon or strange creature. But with all sincerity, guard your mind from deception. When the devil tries to paint an enticing picture of sin in your life, look at God’s Word and resist him. Life in Christ is not a joke. So don’t trade yours for anything ungodly.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for letting me know the enemy is not my friend. I receive grace to resist him in any way he shows up in my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
