“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7 NIV
Too many times, I’ve seen some believers complain that they’ve experienced negative influences in some areas of their lives because of the devil. Well, for some, it’s true. But also, for others, it’s just a lack of knowledge in applying the bountiful riches of divine knowledge in God’s grace in eternal life.
For example, struggle in leading people is not necessarily a product of demonic influence. In most cases, it’s a function of a lack of effective leadership knowledge. For the ones the enemy influences, the Bible says clearly that we believers must resist the devil.
The word “resist” used in the Bible verse means “stand against” or “oppose.” In other words, we must oppose the opposer of God.
Now, if God doesn’t know you can do that, He wouldn’t have made it plain to you through the Bible. He has endued you with His power. You have authority over the devil and all his cohorts. Is there anything demonic in your life you don’t want to see? Resist the devil through prayer and knowledge of the Word.
Don’t be a lazy Christian, thinking God will do everything for you if you don’t pray. Rise and pray. If the devil prowls about like a roaring lion, then you as a child of God must roar against him because the Spirit of the Lion of Judah is resident in you. Lay hold on to the truth that God has made you powerful over the enemy.
You’re a blessing.
