“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.” — Psalms 20:1 NIV
Distress usually happens when a person goes through a very tough situation in life. It is totally unpreventable because nobody is exempted from facing life issues. However, what we do during those moments is very crucial.
David was a king at the same time, a minstrel unto the Lord. He was judging cases, overseeing the well-being of his whole family, ensuring there’s a personally great relationship with God and also fulfilling other ministry responsibilities. However, David didn’t deny the fact that he goes through distress. Some of his psalms were full of soul-comforting words because he sang them while in pain. That is to say that distress happens to everyone in life, whether morning, afternoon or evening. But there’s hope.
There’s this God we can call unto in those moments of life that will never fail us. It’s this same God who kept David strong on the throne till he grew so old. Today, we learn from the Psalms that David prayed a prayer for people in distress. That is, “May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;…”
If you’re going through a tough time in your life right now, I challenge you to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Trust Him, and seek His counsel on getting solutions to the problems you’re facing today. He’ll answer you and give you help or direct you to suitable helpers.
You’re a blessing.
Prayer
Lord, I pray that I’ll not miss hearing Your answer to me when I am distressed. Lead and guide me in the way everlasting in the name of Jesus. Amen!
