God’s Code for Basic Life Necessities Provision

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:31 - 33 NKJV

I’ve realized that many people work because of food, water, clothes, and shelter. These things are basic life necessities. And it’s not wrong to work to provide them. But God didn’t create work solely for us to use as means to get those provisions. No! God’s purpose for creating work is to help us fulfil our divine purpose.

God’s purpose for creating work is to help us fulfil our divine purpose.

God knows we need certain things in life. And He is determined to provide them. But sometimes, we distrust God, thinking He doesn’t care about our lives. So Jesus showed us clearly in Matthew 6:33 about God’s code for basic life necessities provision, and that is “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.” How do I know that?

Before Jesus proclaimed Matthew 6:33, He said in verse 31 that we shouldn’t worry about what we’ll eat, drink and wear because God knows we need them. Then in verse 33, He continues to say (paraphrasing), “anyone who seeks first God’s kingdom shall have these (the food, the water, the clothes) added unto him.” Wait a minute! That means any Christian who gets much involved with fulfilling kingdom tasks shall have his basic life necessities met without any iota of struggle. That’s wonderful.

Understand that Jesus didn’t say you’ll get everything in life just because you serve God. He said, as for the basic life necessities, it’ll be added (magnetized) unto you.

See, God knows your needs, but He doesn’t expect you to ask Him for things like food, water, and clothes. He wants you to ask Him big things to help you maximize kingdom impact.

Serving God has a lot of eternal advantages. But if you shut your mouth up and don’t ask God (with a clear motive) for your needs, you’ll be limited in your kingdom impact because impact is costly.

God won’t release anything into your life that He knows your current spiritual capacity can’t handle.

Remember that God won’t release anything into your life that He knows your current spiritual capacity can’t handle. No! He loves you and doesn’t want you to break down. That’s why He supplies grace for work. So if you’re experiencing some delays in prayer requests’ answers, wait on God, and keep building spiritual capacity. Your time and turn will come. Hold on to your faith in Christ.

You’re a blessing.
