Jesus Gave Himself for Our Sins

[4] “who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,” – Galatians 1:4 (NKJV)

When God made the world, there was no sin in it. Everything was in perfect shape and order until man fell and created a pathway for sin to enter the world, which the devil used (see Romans 5:12). Today, more people sin than it was in the days of the old. God saw that it wasn’t getting any better. So He wiped off the whole human race except that of Noah’s family. Yet, sin continued to thrive. Even though God has a calendar, and nothing surprises Him, I believe that He, sending Jesus to atone for the sin of the whole world, was right in time.

In Galatians 1:4, the Bible says Jesus gave Himself for our sins so that He might deliver us from this present evil age according to the will of God. That implies three things:

  1. It is God’s will that He sent Jesus to the world. And He did that because of His immeasurable love for us (see John 3:16).
  2. We live in an evil age corrupted with sin – both in people’s thoughts and actions. And the only way we can live in this world without being affected by it is by living under God’s shielding.
  3. Your sins have been forgiven because Jesus paid it for you.

Dear friend, you don’t need to box yourself about what wrong you did when you didn’t know Christ. So far as you are born again, Christ’s blood has washed away your sins. Focus on building a deeper intimacy with God. That will empower you to live a life that pleases the Father daily.

You’re a blessing.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for sending Jesus to come and die for me. I know that my sins have been nailed to the cross of Christ. So I am free. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
